FRYERS 24c Hales Chapel News The WMU will meet Friday night at the church at 8:00. Norris Brown of Durham called on Mrs. William Driver and fam ily Sunday afternoon. Visiting the Thelbert Creeches Sunday were the Lester Williams of Hamlet, the Howard Franklin family of Cary, the Gary Fulghums of Middlesex, the J. A. Allens, the Connie Wilder family of Friend ship, the Lester Mentons of Dur ham, the Douglas Creeches and baby of Archer’s Lodge and the Randy Creeches of Wendell. Mrs. Helen Leonard had a major operation at Rex Hospital last Thursday and is very ill. The children and grandchildren of Mrs. Lucy Driver gathered at her home Sunday afternoon and had a picnic supper on the lawn. The occasion was in honor of Mother’s Day since some of her children could not be with her next Sunday. Will Creech celebrated his 62nd birthday with a picnic dinner at his home Sunday given by his wife and his children. Rev. and Mrs. Guy Helms and family were present for the occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Driver of Archer’s Lodge spent Sunday with his parents, the William Drivers. Mrs. Alva Hinson and son of Fair Bluff spent the weekend with her daughter, the Bob Browns, and son, Tim. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Parrish and daughter, Bonnie Jeneil of Stancil’s Chapel were Sunday night guests of her parents, the Jesse Drivers. The young people in our church presented a play Sunday titled “The Trial of the Robbers.” The purpose of the play was to boost our Lord’s Acre Project. After the program each member was as’ ed to sign a pledge card for his \ project. The proceeds from all the projects will go into the building fund treasury this fall. Mrs. Sally Whitley of Fayette ville spent the weekend with her parents, the Marvin Hintons. Miss Mozelle Driver of Raleigh visited her mother, Mrs. Lucy Dri ver, Sunday.
